So, Comps Blew-What to Buy Now?

Hi bunnies! Your Talented Blonde has had her nose the grindstone, but as always–I scuff up my Jimmy Choos at the Mall in the name of Fashion. So here’s the deal. Comps suck- you don’t me to tell you that. So what to do now? Buy smart- listen to the blonde girl. Here are some names that are so fabulous they don’t even GIVE  COMPS. I did some channel checks and I am LOVING Burberry (BRBY). Check out my video here at the street.com TV.

Look, Coach (COH) is dead. Masstige is getting its A$$ kicked, so go uber-luxe. Burberry looks amazing, is working the whole  Bondage in Fashion thing– (now that I have your attention). The fabulous Christopher Bailey picked up where Rose Marie Bravo left off–taking this heritage brand and sexing it up–and its working! Studs, Bondage corsets with buckles, Gladiator spiked heels, High shine Patent Leather boots, bags, and shoes– hell, event the iconic trench was sexed up with a wasp-waist fit! Forget Britain– Burberry looks more Berlin or Amsterdam! And its accessories biz was +35% on its 2Q sales report. So– SOMEONE IS buying handbags– they just aren’t buying them at COH

Also, you cannot deny J. Crew (JCG). This store is the best looking store in the Mall for holiday. You can say what you want about sweaters, blablablalba, but Mickey is doing everything right here. The store POPS with color, not just red and green– but EVERYTHING. It’s a party–and you’re invited. Special guest: your wallet

And as you know, The Talented Blonde still loves tech as fashion stories like AAPL, CROX, UA, and LULU! This is the new aspirational luxury, people. UA is more like COH, and less like a Champion. I’m tellin ya—I was at the booth in Vegas at MAGIC—I met with Management—wait till (CROX) apparel rolls out. The stock will spike and those that sold short will be hosed. I still like (KSS) and TGT here too! You heard it here first. Now go back to your bloomberg– I’m done with you!

Talented Blonde on TheStreet.com - Coach and Burberry

Yo Blondie - I don’t know about the stock, but the sales chick at the Burberry’s store in Athens was smokin’ hot! I could tell she was hot for me, but I played it totally cool and didn’t try to pick her up. (I would have broke her heart anyway.)

Crocs apparel?? Oh yeah, I can’t wait for their fascinating take on the relaxed polo with the little alligator logo.

Crox shorts hosed? I don’t think so darlin’! Single digits baby.

You’re right on about Burberry. Our taste has been more pro-Burberry of late. Wrote an article that affirms your belief here:

I also agree that masstige is dead. What I’m wondering, though, is are the prestige brands (Prada, Tod’s, Bottega Veneta, et cetera) going to drop prices to capture the remnants of the masstige consumers? To maintain their cachet, they’ll probably keep it pricey, but StyleDash I believe featured a Burberry handbag a week or two ago that was like $200. Perhaps brands that have been given the mark of the beast (masstige) like Coach are dead, but the market for selling luxury goods at lower-than-luxury prices is not.

Um—bunny! Isn’t CROX up 3 bucks right now?? Im tellin ya-release the jaws on the Crox!!! Eesh.

In other news-we love the Burberry–you should’ve asked that little bunny out. At least you could have gotten a mad discount. Did I not teach you anything?

Hey Cameron!

Thanks for the shout out! Love love love your blog btw! I totally agree vis a vis masstige and the mark of the beast–brilliant. To your point, I think you WILL see much more “Friends and Family” or “Private Selling ” events for Luxury/Prestige Brands to go after that consumer that is looking for discounts on their lux goods, but don’t want to sully the brand in the process.

Thanks for reading!

Good point. I didn’t think about the mad discount! But the last thing I need is some 6 foot chick naggin me in Greek.

We’ve got two Burberry’s up here in Boston and they’ve been stripped bare by size zeros going to Harvard on daddy’s dime.
